While other manufacturer's claim to offer their MV soft starters in NEMA3R enclosures, pay close attention to the fine print stating NEMA3R for "indoor-use"…meaning some type of structure (lean-to, shed or other protection) is needed if mounted outdoors.    The Solcon solution goes several steps further with a "door-in-door" design, welded seams, heavy duty gasket around the cabinet doors, anti-condensation heaters and more for a true "outdoor-use" rating.
